Ladies Championship Finals

Ladies Championship 2023

What wonderful weather for our Championship competitions over the last week. The committee were disappointed that we couldn’t fulfil our full 8 competitors for either the A or B draws due to ladies being unable to play.

Nevertheless those who did play definitely enjoyed the opportunity matchplay offers. In the A Championship Moira Simpson beat Anne Littlefair on her birthday but went on to play in the final against Isabel Nisbet. Ali Carslaw and Lesley Moore played well but failed to continue in different rounds. Isabel had beaten Lynda Tulloch and then Margaret Ross. Some of these games were very close indeed but none went to the 19th as the final needed to do.  The Lady Captain and referee confirmed at the prize giving, the better ball score was four under par for this match. Well done to both competitors and congratulations to Isabel Nisbet who will see her name on the A Championship board for 2023.

Christian Blake refereed the B Championship and its safe to say both finalists were very nervous at different times during the final. The momentum swung both ways, but it was eventually Shona who regained her confidence and managed to clinch the match on the 15th. A match fought in very good spirit.”

Next year we are going to make sure that we publicise and promote the importance of taking part and coming out to watch the wonderful golf that the ladies and gents put together. Thank you to all those who turned up and followed the competition and the many notes of encouragement.
