Lady’s Captain’s Day

Firstly thank you to all who managed to play on Sunday. Tell me how we can get such beautiful Saturday gorgeous sunshine and warmth and on Sunday almost lose the feeling in your hands? Oh of course its Scotland.

There were a number of call offs from folk because of illness and life getting in the way of golf but thank you to all who contacted me with your best wishes for the day and the flowers that I was presented with. Much appreciated.

A select band therefore tried their best in the circumstances but disappointingly we only played 11 holes in the stableford. Our mitigation was that we were very cold, blown off the course and play was exceptionally slow. Such a shame, but for those playing, it was the right call.

To heap insult on injury, unfortunately it also means that we had no returns for the round and that impacts on our handicaps.

I know sack the Captain and remember that this is not a precedent for the future. Please don’t let this put you off entering next year!

In amongst all that, we did have a good time, I promise.  Food was good, course looked great, the company exceptional.

Nicky Meikle’s ball soared a massive distance at the 6th and Margaret Wellwood hit her best shot of the day to be nearest the pin at the 9th.

Helen Seward was pipped at the post by Paola Burrows who was on course to have a great round with 25 points.

Lessons learned for the Captain for next year?  Many and varied.

However, I will continue to try to do my best and keep smiling!

Thank you from your Lady’s Captain
