About the Glen Juniors
We have approximately 100 junior members at the Glen Golf
Club, ranging in age from 8 to 18.
There are numerous advantages to junior
membership:
-
year-round golf at very low cost
-
on attaining the age of 18, juniors can 'upgrade' to
full membership without the
need to be proposed, seconded and go on
the waiting list
-
a full itinerary including competitions medal
(stroke-play), Stableford (points per hole)
and match-play
competitions.
-
a National Handicap gained by submitting scorecards
from medal and Stableford
competitions
-
at the Glen we recognise the importance of providing
golf tuition. We provide
vouchers entitling junior members to free
coaching with Jane Connachan and
we provide, annually, a series of free
lessons for groups of less experienced
junior golfers (this is
arranged in conjunction with the Golf Foundation). For
the more
experienced junior golfers we are organising free
on-course tuition
with Andy Hume. Finally, for these golfers, we
hope to organise a free
trip to the National Golf Centre
at Drumoig.
-
we are members of the East
Lothian Junior League. Any junior can aspire to
representing his
club at this level by showing commitment, loyalty and a consistent
(or, better still, consistently improving!) level of play.
The Junior Charter In
2001 the Glen was awarded the Junior Charter (on view in the Clubhouse),
a certificate that can only be achieved by providing an environment for
the development of junior golf which meets very high standards.
