US Kids Tournament Sunday 29th May 2016 through to Thursday 2nd June 2016
It has already been reported the Glen is privileged to host The US Kids tournament at the end of May. In the coming weeks we will be asking members to volunteer as course rangers, practice range supervision and other associated positions. If you want to volunteer please let Tom McGinley know. Please look out for further information on the Club notice boards.
We are delighted to announce majority of shop purchases will benefit from a 10% members only discount with immediate effect. The Club appreciates the patience shown by voucher holders who we know may have been waiting for some time to exchange their vouchers. The stock in the shop is now substantial, however if there is something you require that is not in stock please ask Fraser as all major brands are available at internet matching prices.
As discussed at our recent AGM we have now assembled a group to look into our course drainage systems. We have prided ourselves at the Glen in being open for play when others courses may not be, this was not the case for several days over the winter. The challenge for the newly formed group is to fully understand our current system, recommend improvements, if necessary with the assistance of professional drainage experts. We will consider any cost implications before approving any ground work.
Member Skill Register
Please look out for notices requesting any member who has specific work experience to register their willingness to assist us occasionally in any specific projects. If you have a few hours to spare on an occasional basis it would be appreciated.
Glen Gc currently has Public Liability Insurance cover which protects Members in the event of accidental third party injury or property damage caused as a consequence of golf activity. However for each claim there is a £350 excess which actually exceeds the value of most claims. The Club has consequently taken out a Policy extension which will cover such small claims without any policy excess as well as extending cover to Worldwide territorial limits. The cost of such cover is modest at under £2 per member and will be included within the 2016/17 subscription. In future years this will be added to subscription renewal rates. However please note this policy does not cover your golf equipment (including buggies), membership fees, hole in one, personal effects, tournament entry fees etc. which are the extras normally included within a typical personal Golf Insurance policy. If you need this sort of cover then you should continue to take out such a policy.
The above policy extension will be effective from 1st April 2016.
Out of hours access to Locker rooms
Access to Locker rooms is now available between the hours of 6.00 am to 10.00 pm when the Clubhouse might be otherwise closed. This is only available to Members who currently rent a locker and access is granted via the right-hand doors from the putting Green to the Locker/Notices lobby. An additional key is required which is available from Tom. However please note that this area will be automatically time alarmed after 10.00 pm at night and STRICTLY NO ACCESS IS AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10.00 PM AND 6.00 AM. A Charge of £65 will be levied to cover the cost of reset if a member breaches those hours. We hope that this will help members gain access to Lockers during all daylight hours and thank you for your cooperation. The above hours will be reviewed during the season.
Could we remind all Members that 2016/17 subscriptions are due for payment by 31st March 2016. If you fail to pay by that date your playing rights will be suspended.
