Scottish Open, Gullane 9-12 July 2015

The European Tour is giving the opportunity for a local club golfer to partner a European Tour Professional at a Pro-Am over Gullane’s Scottish Open composite course on Wednesday 8 July, the day before the Scottish Open starts.

A Glen competition has been nominated, the winner of which will represent us at a qualifying final to be played on Friday 12 June at Gullane. The handicap winner then will partner the Pro in the Pro-Am.

The Pro-Am place is open to Gents, Ladies and Juniors, so our nominated club competition will be the Law Trophy, to be held on Saturday 4 April. The Law Trophy is a Stableford competition open to Gents, Ladies and Juniors (with clearance from the Junior Convener to enter adult competitions). Entries for the Law Trophy open on Monday 9 March.

The European Tour has also given us discount vouchers for distribution to Law Trophy entrants. These offer £5 off a day ticket or £10 off a season ticket, so if you are planning to attend the Scottish Open and haven’t already bought your tickets, entering the Law Trophy will save you money and give you the chance to make it all the way to the Pro-Am on 8 July.

The Course
In the 17th century golf was first played in North Berwick on these historic East Links. Originally laid out as a nine hole course in 1894, it was extended to 18 holes in 1906 with a design provided by James Braid and Ben Sayers.

Suiting players of all abilities the course is challenging but fair. It is 6275 yards (par 70) for men off the medal tees and a 5773 yards (par 73) for ladies.

The Glen enjoys a breathtaking cliff top location with many spectacular holes offering views of the Firth of Forth and its islands including the Bass Rock, the world renowned bird sanctuary. The Glen is an all year round course and is seldom closed due to weather, playing normal greens and tees throughout the year.
