These handicap changes apply to all members with immediate effect.   It is the responsibility of all members to play off their CONGU Handicap. If your handicap has 'lapsed' you are not entitled to play in any club competition or to represent the Glen Golf Club in any competition.

Happy new year to all our members.

The past few weeks have been trying times for the many avid winter golfers who enjoy the excellent playing conditions usually enjoyed by members, guests and visitors to the Glen. It is fantastic to see how well our course has recovered and thanks must go to our greens keeping staff for the dedication they have shown to getting the course back to such an excellent playable level within such a short period of time.

Now that we are back to normal again, I would like to let you know that preparations are underway to ensure the playing experience will improve for all our members throughout the new season. We are currently working to ensure you can enter competitions from the comfort of your own home. For those of you without access to internet connection, you will still be able to enter the medal competitions by visiting the club and using the computer in the clubhouse. If you have any difficulty in doing this our staff at the starters area will be available to help you.

I would be interested in hearing from any member who has suggestions on ways to improve the enjoyment of our competitions. I am also open to offers of sponsorship for medals and especially interested in hearing from people willing to offer prizes or sponsorship for the Gent's Invitation Day, the Glen V. Rhodes day and the newly revamped Oldies V. Young 'Un's event which will be played towards the end of 2010. (More news later) These competitions are meant to be fun and an opportunity for members and their guests to meet and mingle with other members of the club and their friends.

I hope to regularly update this section with information on all aspects of what is happening within the Gent's section of the club and if you have any interesting stories or achievements worthy of mention I will be delighted to hear from you.

If you have any suggestions or comments for 2010, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or leave a message in my in tray in Rita's office.

May all your putts in 2010 be gimmes.
