2007 - 2008 WINTER LEAGUE: Congratulations are in order to both the Gents and Juniors Winter league squads who have won their respective Divisions.

The Juniors play Craigielaw at Dunbar 23rd March, for the overall title. Their squad comprises: Stuart Kerr, Keren Ward, Ross Christie, Fraser Christie, Euan Elliot, Fiona Milne and Liam Brown.

We wish them luck. WHY NOT GO ALONG AND SUPPORT THE TEAM?

Rules Team Regains Scottish Title

The Glen Rules of Golf Quiz Team have done it again!

On Sunday 18 March at Craigmillar GC, the team won the Scotland Title for a remarkable 4^th time in 5 years and now go forward to represent Scotland in the GB&I final at the R&A, St Andrews on Sunday 1 April.

The team, represented by Charlie Shearer (Captain in the temporary absence of Jim Davidson), Robbie Douglas and Alan and Polly McPherson won the first semi-final, comfortably beating Erskine GC by 41 points to 28. In the second semi-final, Forres GC, formidable rivals in previous campaigns beat The St Rule Club by 41 to 29.

In the final, the team scored maximum points in Round 1 and Forres, under pressure from the start, dropped 3 points. Forres faltered as they tried hard to regain lost ground and by the end of the Round 2 the Glen had extended its lead to 7 points. Another faultless performance in Round 3 maintained that advantage and although 1 point was dropped in the final round, the Glen ran out winners by 41 points to 34.

Jim returns for the St Andrews final, to Captain the side he has led since the start of the competition in October 2006, whilst Charlie and John Foley remain on stand-by to cover for any last-minute emergencies.

The time, effort and organisation required for a Rules Team to develop into Scottish champions (or for that matter, GB&I champions!) cannot be overstated and the Club is particularly grateful to everyone involved for their commitment to the competition and for the prestige the team continues to bring to the Club.

We wish them the very best of success at St Andrews in April.
